The Mankazana area is rich in wildlife and diverse in flora, being the meeting point of four different biomes. Teeming with birdlife and wild game, hikes are varied and picturesque. The mountainous area is ideal for mountain biking and 4 x4 trails. Bass and trout fishing is available in the numerous dams. Horse riding trails can be organized on request.
The valley is steeped in history, from ancient Paleolithic artifacts to ancient Khoi-San rock paintings, there are many battle sites and forts dating from the Frontier Wars between that amaXhosa and the British.
The nearby towns of Adelaide and Bedford have a number of eating establishments, art studios and gift shops. The increasingly popular Bedford Soul Food and Garden Festivals attract thousands of visitors to the area every year.
